New Gym

After 51 years, Snowflake High School finally has a new gym and boy it's a nice one. These pictures are of the gym. If you look up around the top there's a fence and behind that fence is an indoor track - not regulation size - but a training trace. the blue duct work around the ceiling is the heating and air conditioning.

Because we had no gym we played all of our basketball games until the last 2 weeks and then we've had 5 home games in a row with one more tonight. Gerald and I have worked 5 hours a night at all of those games and we'll be glad when it's over.

The pictures were taken on Friday, February 3, with us playing Alchesay. For the 2nd time we packed the gym, which holds 1800 people. (The old gym holds 900.) We still use our old gym, playing 3 games in each gym each night we have home games.

The picture down the out-of-bounds line shows Gerald standing at the door, where it's his job to keep people under control and prevent them from bring food and beverages into the gym, which is a new concept in Snowflake. Rex "guards" the other set of doors. Their job isn't easy, but as people get used to the fact that we don't eat and drink in our gym, it's getting easier.

It's quite exciting and a dream come true for our entire area!
